What's so great about honey?

The benefits of honey go a long way beyond its taste. A great natural source of carbohydrates, which provide strength and energy to our bodies, honey is known for its effectiveness in instantly boosting performance, endurance and reducing muscle fatigue in athletes.

Its natural fruit sugars play an important role in preventing fatigue during exercise. The glucose in honey is absorbed quickly by the body and gives an immediate energy boost while the fructose is absorbed more slowly and provides sustained energy.

It is known that honey has also been found to keep levels of blood sugar fairly constant compared to other types of sugar.

Listed on the right are just a few of the benefits of honey.

Before you go for a workout, take a spoon of honey to enable you to go for that extra mile.

Feeling low and lethargic when you awake? Don't reach for a can of soda! Try honey spread on hot toast or replace the sugar in your tea with it for a surge of energy.

School and extra-cirricular activities can be tiring. Make sandwiches with honey, butter and lean ham to make sure they have enough energy to get them through the day. They don't care about the health benefits of honey, they just love the taste!
